A-Level Physics rewards students who understand what equations mean and can apply them in unfamiliar situations. Revision needs to go beyond copying formula sheets.
Start with meaning, not memory
Before using an equation, students should be able to explain each quantity in words. This helps them choose the correct relationship and avoid substituting numbers blindly.
Build topic maps
Physics topics connect. Forces link to energy, fields link to potential, and waves link to interference and phase. A topic map helps students see those connections instead of revising each page in isolation.
Practise the setup of questions
Many students can do the calculation once they know which equation to use. The harder skill is setting the question up: drawing the diagram, identifying known values, converting units, and choosing assumptions.
Use mark schemes carefully
Mark schemes show the level of precision expected in written explanations. Students should compare not only the answer, but also the wording, units, and reasoning used.
